MXT Beach

As post peeps know the MXT is not a beach detector esp in Scotland hates it.
Anyway I have a club dig Sunday on the beach <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry">
I have the new Whites 1400 coil which I love and have never tried on the beach. I find the big problem with the MXT on the beach is I cant ground balance it. I have tried the salt lock and various setting anyone any tips for set-up would be appreciated.

The DD coils work best on salt beaches. I have found that the MXT is a very good beach detector, it goes deep but chatters alot. If you can deal with the chatter you will do well. I usually use the ground tracking or salt in relic mode and you will have to adjust the sensitivity from time to time depending on the level of conductive salts in certain parts of the beach, keep the coil about an inch above the ground especially if the ground is wet. Good luck, HH

have you tryed the factory default setting which are 50 and 80 works better for me in ohio beach.do you know how to set them ?A dd coil work better for me.

Lesley, I beach hunt with the MXT only. I have no problem here on the gulf coast of Florida. I hunt the dry and wet sand. Mainly I hunt in the coin and jewelry mode, I run at 2 disc, get a little more depth. Hunt in the prospecting mode a lot in wet sand. Ground bal. on dry sand switch to ground then lock it after ground bal. If hunting the wet sand ground balance in salt mode then lock after bal.
I find this works for me, but remember you have to re-balance each time from dry to wet. I also run the 6x10 DD coil. Hope that you can get the MXT to work in your local area, it's a great machine for me beach hunting. HH

thanks guys for your help, I am afraid it was chattering none stop tried various combinations. I found if I moved away from the wet sand it was better. Although it was 100 times better with the 1400dd on I must say.

The Club SARG based Scotland were doing a recording for the BBC on COASTAL habitats UK. Their was about 15 of us within 2 feet of each other with the machines off so we could hear the producer what a laugh..
