MXT Appears to turn off and back on - any suggestions?

Was using the MXT today running in the relic mode, trigger in middle possition and the detector would momentarily shut down and immediately re-start. Each time it displays the start-up screen with "MXT 1.0 and Battery voltage."
This would happen in intervals of from 30 seconds to 10 minutes or so. Tightened all connectors, turned detector on and off manually and it does the same thing.
Any suggestions?
Send it back to White's
Thanks,
Ray

Check battery contacts both inside the pack and out to make sure they are clean.

Sounds like it is loseing contact at the battery, or even a bad cell in the pack. Check the battery and connections and even try differnt batterys as it sure sounds like it is losing contact being the start up screen is showing up.

I had the same problem this summer in Maine. I usually run duacell's and on the way up baught a set of CVS brand.
Happened several times and I check the connections and they were good.
Went out and bought a new set of Duacells and no more problems....
Wish you the best of luck....

I was using "off" brand alkalines (not Duracell or Energizers). I cleaned and tightened the battery holder clips.
I'll let you know how I make out this weekend!
Thanks for all the advise!

Tightened the springs and clened the battery terminals and it appears to have fixed the problem.
Noticed that the voltage on the batteries went from 9 to 10V.
Thanks for all the help!
