MXT and DFX field test comparison

I've often wondered which detector is better suited for relic hunting and finding cw bullets. DFX or MXT. I set up both detectors with the standard 9"coils and since the area is void of any modern trash we were able to set each detector at it's maximum settings without interference. The results were shocking! The MXT found the deeper bullets!!! Example... I had located a target that registered +52 on the MXT and I just knew it was a large caliber bullet because I have found a couple hundred out here before. I asked my son, who was using the DFX, to walk straight towards me and see if he could get the same (hit) that I was getting. Much to my suprise, he went right over it without a beep. I told him to back up and go real slow with coil. He still did not detect anything, WOW! I couldn't believe it! I told him to back away and I rechecked it with the MXT, BANG! +52!!! We dug target up and found a .58cal 3 ringer in vertical position with the nose of bullet pointing downward. This bullet was 7"deep. I could not believe the DFX would not pick it up! I know this is not a scientific research study but these are the settings I use all the time out here when I'm hunting with the DFX or MXT. Don't get me wrong, the DFX ROCKS on finding coins and old silver but the MXT RULES in the relic field. That's my take on it. Happy Hunting!!!

I haven't posted much on this forum, but I'm certainly no stranger to the MXT and DFX. I'm also not sure how much time you have on the DFX Steve, but if you're referring to comparing the MXT to the DFX using any of the basic pre-sets on the DFX, it'll be pretty easy for one to dial up the MXT for better performance. With the DFX, generally speaking, one will have to REALLY learn all the adjustments, their functions and interactions before they will be able to CONSISTANTLY get the DFX to perform equal to and even better than the MXT.

That's a good one, but it sorta falls on deaf ears here at least. I don't get too fired up about college football any more. There's just something about the fact that so many players don't follow the few training rules that are left in place. There are a lot of players that may look great on the field but they're out of control off the field. That has taken a lot of my enthusiasm out of the game. I know, I know..... bad attitude. :) I definitely gotta admit that ours is one of the best rivalries in the country. Good luck to you guys this year.... you'll need it! ;) Just kidding.
