MXT and deep iron....

Anyone use their MXT to find huts or other deep iron? I run with the trigger forward, 0 DISC and I am currently using the 14 DD whites coil. I seem to have trouble hearing the deep iron. I can detect a minnie at 12-14 inches with out much trouble(in the right soil conditions) but can't seen to get iron past 5-6 inches. I have had iron read as a + VDI when its real deep but even that seems to be sporadic. Any thoughts?

Try the same setup with trigger in centre position. I think that will work better.

Sgt: I prefer the set-up you are using, but if you use Ralph, be sure to use at least a small amt of disc or the tone is not hi / low. But then you are cutting some iron out too. Try it in the air.
Also for some iron that reads positive try coming at it from the side with just the edge of the coil and you might just see it go negative. I use that for beer bottle caps. <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:">
