went out to a tot-lot and my wife's mom house. after about 20 - 30 mins found 1952 wheat penny 8 inches and some clad and tons of old nails. At her house so I wen too the,
Tot-lot and after about an hour there found a 1965 Quarter at 10 inches well 9 if you don't count the top of the ground.
Now I really had to work for that Quarter I almost gave up on it thinking it was just some junk in the ground, but when I PP the hole I saw it there.
Wanted to stay out longer but was so cold I had to leave.
Some notes:
I had my DFX out there but with the power lines over head it made it go crazy no matter what I did was not able to get to stop, stock coil, 6x10 DD, 10 D2. Adj. gain AC, bestdata 3kz 15 kz rebooted nothing worked.
MXT did great there ( Now I don't know if this has been talked about) but when I 1st used the 6x10 and the 10 D2. I got a lot of false reading so I turned it off then back on and removed the Batt. for 1 min,
and then turned it on with the 6x10DD and it worked super and was able to run it with the gain at +1 with no trouble at all. Did same with 10 D2 when I switched to try it out. Also I figured out why I wasn't finding any nickels,
when I have the Disc. set to preset my MXT would not make a sound when I put a nickel on top of the ground. So I set it at just past the 4 and then it went off with a good solid hit, after that I found 9 nickels from 2002 - 2007,
nothing any older then that.
Well thats about it I like the D2 much better then the 6x10 DD, also like the MXT better then the DFX, ( Now I have not had the MXT or the DFX that long ) but did have a week of some what good wearther to hunt with both,
and put in 25 hours of use with the MXT. The DFX I was not able to put too much time in due to the power line trouble.
The DFX is nice I like the ideal of all the Adj. you can do but in my area I hunt there is power lines all over the place, I did find one place to hunt with the DFX and the only power line I saw was about 600 feet away from where,
I was at. The DFX on the C/J preset and a few small Adj. did very well found a 1979 Quarter 6 inches down with the stock coil. The place I was at I think was a old softball field at one time I think ?
I will give the DFX a little more time, but if I have to drive about 2 hours to use it well thats going to get old very fast. BTW anyone else have trouble around power lines with there DFX ?
