MXT and a GREAT DAY's Lesson

robert roy

New member
We had a relatively warm day.
I took the MXT back to a sports field I have visited in the past. I really thought
I had emptied the place of most of the clad.
Usually I usually used the Ace 250 and sometimes the MXT with the 5.3 coil.
This time I used the 9.50 coil put the thing in relic mode, set discrimination on 4 right below
nickel decided not to be fussy about what I dug. I DUG EVERYTHING that was past three inches!
I dug trash of course but for every NO I got I got a YES. Got tons of nickes I had missed and two
rings, one junk and the other a 14kt.

Not bad for a couple hours at the sports field!:clapping:

All you newbies TAKE NOT! Dig everything if its past 3 or 4 inches. You'll be pleasantly surprised.:hot:

Well, I think I'll go act my age now and take a nap.:goodnight:

Excellent finds and yes, dig dig dig everything. Robert, we've found gold rings right underneath the surface also. Larry even found an OLD gold ring about an inch down. When the roots take hold of the ring, it's not going anywhere. Ballfields are never hunted out. Keep up the good detecting.

That's good to hear guys. There is a field in town that used to be county horse racing track loooong ago. From the air you can still see the outline. I know a couple of locals that hunt the field every year so I never really considered hunting there thinking it was worn out. I have permission from the owner, so maybe I'll just give it a going over this spring. Thanks.

Today, Friday the 11th, I didn't find anymore rings. Dang. Those two days in a row spoiled me!!!!!
Just picked up some $4.00 in clad. Had to leave the sports field because it got to windy and cold. Expecting snow and rain mix tonight and maybe Sat.

Regards

You must be from our neck of the woods. We've got the same forecast here in Central Illinois. You can't complain about not finding any more rings......give it time and you will. It just got your ambitions up...... nothing wrong with that. You'll find more.

You know, I said I turned down the discrimination. I didn't mean that. I intended to say " I turned down the sensitivity." Ah well.
Mistakes happen....all to frequently for me sad to say.
