MXT Alkalines Question?

A

Anonymous

Guest
Just wondered if the MXT loses any performance as the batteries fade? The manual states that batteries are ok until lobat appears or the voltage reaches 8. I however prefer to change them when the reading is 9 just in case i am losing any performance (new batteries read 11 or 12). Would i be better leaving them in to run right down ?? Interested to hear what other MXT users do ?

I change my alkaline batteries at 8 volts with no noticeable performance drop. The manual indicates that alkaline batteries provide "reserve" time that rechargeables won't. I haven't had occasion to run low alkalines in cold weather--I wouldn't want to bet on them.

I have used mine for several hours after it shoes low batt. Did not notice any difference in the way it worked.
