MXT Alaska Gold

I want to test uploading a photo so here's a picture of me with a 1.94 ounce gold nugget I got with my MXT in Alaska last summer. Hope it works.

I'm still playing with photo size and stuff. Here's the nugget on the coil right after I dug it.

One more, looks like this size is about best. This is my gold from the trip, all found with the MXT except the upper left vial which is fine gold found with a highbanker.

That looks real nice great find how long did it take you?
I just got an mxt right after Christmas still learning with it. Do you like that coil does it work better than the stock coil? I live in the mother load and plan on working the ground i own.

Nice stuff. Hope to get up there myself this summer. How deep was the big nugget? Were you hunting old dredgings or unworked ground? How is the 1400 coil for gold? Sorry for the grilling but I'm a newbie and have an inquiring mind.

Way to go!
Kevin M.

The big nugget was only about 3-4 inches deep. It rang like a bell when the coil passed over it.

It was old dredgings at Ganes Creek, Alaska. Ganes Creek as a working placer mine that was bucket line dredged for 40 years, much of the detecting is the old tailings piles. Do a Google search and you'll find out all about it.

That big coil worked just fine, based on advice here and elsewhere I wanted to cover as much ground per swing as possible and, since we were hunting trophy nuggets, I wasn't worrying about missing very small stuff. The coil is heavy, though, I had a bungee system to be able to swing it all day all week.

I know that you,re going to try Ganes this year for a bigger one ! Hope to see you up there, I will try again week 4 and 5 for a 2oz gold nugget Lots of luck to you---Jack
