Hi, I evaluated the 8x14 DD Excelerator this summer for JW and I was pleased with its performance. Good depth, pinpointed accurately and was quite sensitive to targets. When I first got it I did not like the weight. JW recommended that I turn it around 180 degrees and try it that way after all its a DD coil and pinpoints off the tip as well as the heel. I tried it and it worked just fine and the weight was not an issue from that point on. I Like the coil and use it when I need a big coil. I wish I could go out and use it now, but the ground around here is hard as a rock. HH Dennis in Idaho

OOPS, I meant to say I evaluated the 10X14 DD Exclerator coil . I don't know what I was thinking. I have used the Whites 8x14 though and found it to be to heavy for me. After a few hours of swinging it I was ready to get rid of it, which I did. I am sorry about the confusion. HH Dennis in Idaho

Did the 10X14 seem to have better depth than the stock coil? Did you have any bad ground to test it on? Was the pinpoint easy to find, like on the 6X10? Or, does it move based on depth?

I can't give you a comparison between the 10 X 14 DD Excelerator and the stock coil because I have never used the stock coil. When I got my MXT I put on the White's 6 X 10 and never used the stock coil. If by referring to bad ground being the same as high mineralization , yes I have used it in both high and low mineralization and the MXT and coil worked great in both. The 10 x14 DD Excelerator pinpoints the same as the White's 6x10 DD. HH Dennis in Idaho

Dennis, hopefully I'm not bugging you with these questions. Just one more, I promise. How noisy would you say the 10X14 is in moderate to bad ground? Can you turn the gain up all the way, or do you need to back it off with this coil? I could really use a larger coil, but I don't need a noise monster that is going to need me to turn the gain down to 10, just to make it usable. I really appreciate your take on this, as most of don't have a fortune to spend on coils and have to choose carefully, so we don't waste a lot of time in the field. Again, Thanks !

Hey you are not bugging me! I think everyone on this forum like to help each other any way they can. I really enjoy using my 10x14 DD Excelerator. I use it mostly in open areas where I need to cover a lot of area in a small amount of time, But it is a heavy coil than some so it is not a coil that I would want to have to swing all day. When I do use it I run the gain at or near the preset and maybe up to +1. In my area I feel that is the optimum setting, so as not to become unstable, or noisy. I personally don't set my gain as high as it will go. I used to but I have found that you don't need the max setting to locate targets. I hunt mostly schools, parks and private homes, so I use smaller coils like my favorite the 6" DD Excelerator and White"s 6x10 DD. My wife swears by her 4.5x7 DD Excelerator and she only uses it. I guess when it comes to buying a new coil you have to weigh the kind of areas that you will be using it. I have had good luck with all of the Excelerator coils that I use and recommend them highly. Hope that helps you. HH Dennis in Idaho

Thank you for all the info I am going with the New White's Super 12" coil..
Lighter... I hope it is just as good..

I'm new so my knowledge is limited. But I used the 8x14 in Stanton AZ last year. I swung it for 2 days and found lots of stuff, but no gold. I found small boot tacks at some depth, so I'm told that being able to do that I would also find gold. It was heavier than the stock coil, but was not a problem.
