MXT 8 " Excelerator

I just purchased the 8" coil for my MXT, Has anyone had much experience with this coil yet?

Ill post when i can about this new coil's perfomance when i receive it. Should have something interesting in the next few weeks.

you need to remember that the MXT, regardless of what you might read, is a two-filter, slow to moderate sweep detector. You do not want to get carried away with a too-fast sweep speed. If you have used the stock 950 very much then it will be interesting to read what you will report. I have found the 8" EXcelerator to be a much more 'pleasant' coil to use in the way of performance. Don't be too hasty to judge it. Use it a fair amount and I think you'll like it as well.

Hi Monte, Ive been reading alot of your post and appreciate your input. I was out with the 8 inch coil today and can really tell a difference. I was in ground that was 81, and if something was in the ground the id was telling me this is a good target. But the sound is the best part, I can really tell multiple targets from eachother. Im not knocking the stock 950 coil, its good and has its use, but i really like the way my ears work with this 8 inch coil. It all just makes more since to me, almost like a sonar in the ground lol

I finally got out a couple of hrs. last sun---Down around the nas car race track (they were running the practice runs) went in the area of some of the business were at in Vanport--I was using the 8 in EX.--That thing is great entreme trash--Its 1 of the smothest running coiles I have ever used---I think it will be my main coil now---Did a test for depth against the 6x10----I could tect a new clad Quarter with both of them (9 in.) but the Ex.was very slightly louder and it gave the correct V.I.D.---The 6x10 did NOT give ANY ----that made a beliver out of me--Every thing goes right--SEE you on Sun.for club hunt-DeathWind1

There may be better ways But it how I compair coils as a few years I dug up my test garden (for unkown reasons NOW -would be 37 years old if I had not done that) I never have replaced it---This way I can check in different areas---To me most important thing is try to keep test the same for both coils----DeathWind1

WE have the worst ground in the country---In the HIGH 80---I am in Wa. around Portland Or.----Monte has said many time comments about how BAD our ground is--
