Hello enjoy all that i read here and the other forums but I am looking for a little help with my MXT300? I use a twelve inch coil found some coins but no jewelry and I was wondering if i am doing something wrong I run with the disc on 1 or off so in reality dig all.

Thanks Butch and also one other thing how do i make it so the things i have read do not come up every time i log int a forum

thanks again

Butch

Well your running your disc low enough. Your digging all signals. I would simply say that your coil hasn't been over a piece of jewelry within your gain setting. Do you have a good coil technique? Low and level? Overlap by 50%? Moderate speed?

Thanks for the info did the test but will try it one more time could of been in too mutch of a hurry to get out before the SNOW here.

VDI numbers are prone to be different in certain situations. I try to always use the old saying " When in doubt, Dig it out" This past weekend I almost skipped over a overload signal. I had dug several cans out of this area and was getting tired after hunting for 7 hours. I actually walked a couple of steps away from the overload signal when I turned back and dug it. Needless to say I would have lost out on a killer relic in this artillery fuse.

The thing that I've learned about the 300 is that it's a powerful detector very capable of finding good stuff pretty deep. But as with any detector sometimes VDI numbers are not exactly right, I've had my 300 for a few months now and have hunted with a DFX for over 6 years and an F75 for a year and a half. Good technique and willingness to dig almost every target is the key to learning how to operate a machine and learn what it is telling you. Good luck with it and don't be afraid of digging a bunch of holes, It in my opinion is the best way to learn.......Flipper out.....Good luck...Jim
