So in the owner manual it says you can hunt with threshold off still get same depth.Tried that today it is correct and the mx7 gets quiet.I use threshold on some of my others whites detector.Mx7 is nice when it is off.Have a small coil on the way the 7 inch double d. I will see how that works on the detector.Used got great deal on it.From richafrdbackwood detectors.Tip from Joe Val on forum that I hunt with sometimes. The best meal is the meal some else makes.Neighbors had me over for dinner last night had BBQ Ribs.

Congrats on the coil. I almost bought it myself when I saw it for sale in the classifieds. I'd like to know how it performs with a dd coil in difficult soil.

I also spend most of my search time in very dense debris, much of which is in the ferrous family of annoying metals. :(

The 6½" diameter Concentric coil provides me the best all-around, general-purpose performance afield. Coin & Jewelry Hunting or Relic Hunting, that is the coil I keep mounted most often.

The 7" DD, made for White's b Detech, is also a very good coil. The Concentric, as expected, provides equal or slightly better depth-of-detection, and it also Discriminates better, especially when dealing with iron junk. It handles my Nail Board Performance Test better than the DD coil, but the 7" DD has its place for me. Due to the open-frame design, the 7" DD isn't as buoyant as the enclosed 6½" coil so I use the 7" DD for any hunting in water.

Just my thoughts from ample time afield using both search coils.

Thanks Monte.I will receive the coil today.I bought the DD coil because I got a good price on it used.So I thought I would try it .I will try this week.
