Glad to hear White's has a fix for the tones issue. Only some mx5's had the glitch. Unfortunately mine is one of them, so off to sweet water it goes. You can see the post on White's forum

Yes i read that also glad to hear. I knew it wouldnt take too long. Even with glitch mine kicks butt.

3 owners that were vocal about it.

There are more than 3 here on Finds Forum. Read between the lines on the whites forum - they said "We have inspected and updated all of our Sweet Home inventory". They did not say they have inspected or updated any that are at their distributors.

Right decision for what? and why is it hard to believe only three of the units tested had the issue? They figured out what was causing the tone/pitch change and fixed it, because it's what they do. They also stated that if any customer experienced the tone/pitch change they could have their unit fixed or replaced.

First off, it was only three of all the units that were tested at the factory - IF a customer is experiencing the issue they can go back to the Dealer or send the unit in and White's will update or replace the unit, which is White's standard SOP for taking care of their customers.

Distributors have been informed and if they find the issue in any of their inventory or their Dealer's inventory White's, as always will update or replace these units.

On a side note - the tone/pitch change was just that, an anomaly that caused a rise in the tone/pitch when going from pinpoint mode back into search mode, which by the way does not affect the performance of the unit or it's ability to detect a target. For most this won't be an issue but for some they may think the units performance is diminished and to have some peace of mind they can have the unit updated/replaced.

It was the right decision

But... "3 out of 1,428"... This part is hard to believe.

Where did the "3 out of 1,428" come from. I have seen three on this forum with the issue, NOT INCLUDING mine, which definitely has the issue.

I think they meant 3 was found in their stock that had issues thats why they also said they will of course repair or replace any detectors customers already have that do have an issue. Thats how i read it.
