MX5 Threshold Volume

I don't have that problem with my MX5, but I run mine at 95 volume, 11 Threshold.......and.....adjusted the headphones to a tolerable level.
.... I bought it from Monte... so he must have put a good mojo on it, my MX5 is hot and well behaved...
I've hunted with some people with the big guns and it has kept up nicely.
...It is great in coin mode, 2 tone, 8 bars of Sens. all segments accepted.
Almost forgot the most important part...the 6½" Eclipse coil, gets down deep and separates extremely well.

Yes Montes the guru, I had an IDX Pro with the Mr Bill mod, which I think is his all time favorite machine, wish I had kept it. I'm calling White's tomorrow.
I've got the 6x10DD coming fri so we'll see.

I've noticed that if I turn the threshold down low, say 3 or 4 it seems to increase just a little after a short period of time. It may be that my hearing is adjusting to the sound. After many rock concerts and years of being around construction equipment it's a wonder I can hear at all. Maybe give White's a call and see if what you describe is normal. I have never ran the threshold down as low as 1. You may have above average hearing!
Yes, I have experienced a Threshold setting that has changed from my 'comfortable' level of '4' or '6' after a short use, or at other times maybe after hunting for 2 hours or so.jspoon said:
I use quality headphones, and with all of them I operate with the headphones set at full volume. It's only been the MX5's that changed. It has happened with 3 or 4 different MX5 that I had owned or borrowed from others to check out for them. On one MX5 it was working fine at a setting of '8' and all of a sudden it had a louder volume and I had to adjust the Threshold setting down to '2'. On another MX5 I was working okay with a '5' or '6' Threshold setting and it started to weaken on me and to get it back to 'normal' I bumped it all the way up to '14' for a similar audio hum.
I have had a couple of them, however, that never seemed to vary.
