MX5 Never see any used ones for sale, guess everyone is likeing them!:super:

Every once in awhile a surprise detector emerges. This one seems to have (From Reports) depth, stability.... and very accurate ID...

RLOH gives the M5 rave reviews, and he knows his stuff when it comes to detectors and detecting..

The mx5 is a fantastic detector. If anything negative it would have to be coil connection as i have huge hands and the headphones connection. Thats it. I like the mx5 better than the mxtpro for several reasons, weight, handle, due to big hands i can only use 3 fingers on pro handle because of how close the pinpoint trigger is to grip, narrower battery box is really nice , volume control is a huge thing for me. And better weather resistance ,,, with all the tests ive done side by side the depth is equal and the mx5 may have a slight speed advantage.

I am liking my MX5 very much. I like that I can suspend it when needed to set it down. This way I can use a hand pinpointer and not have my head phones making noise while digging the target.

I can only speak about the MX5 over here in the UK,the main and only reason these machines dont ever appear on the 2nd hand market is no one is buying them, why i am not really sure.Prehaps like me they are sticking with the older models like my faithful DFX but since the MX5 has been on sale over here i dont recall ever seeing one being used either on a club dig or any rallies.

Bought a new one and liked all the features but after testing the one I had I found that it did not go as deep as my mxt 300 and u cannot lock the m5 to a hot rock to cherry pick have a (see thru) on it but it was light and versatile. shortribs

There is one in the classified forum now.

one on Philadelphia craigs list for $450

Give the MX5 a couple hours with the DD coil and you are going to really like the machine. It's stays right up with my Xterra 705 and even a little more depth on most targets. Easy to use, will.

Frank, with the right coil on this detector, it will outperform units double or more the cost. I have had every Whites detector made and have done well with all of them. The MX5 is really a turn and go detector. I have not had any trouble at all with the auto track on this detector. I find clean ground and pump the coil for 5 seconds over it. It has not tracked iron in my mineralized soil. As a matter of fact, I dig less iron with the MX5 than any detector I have ever used period. I hunt for coins and jewelery so this makes the MX5 a superior detector for me. As I have said many times, it is deep and accurate. I hunt mineralized ground that would be verified by the screens of the T2, F75, and other First Texas products that I have used. In my opinion, for coin hunting, this detector is hard to beat. For the record, I have used extensively these Whites detectors: three DFx's, two V3is, one VX3, modified IDX Pro, XLT Rainbow, MXT, Coinmaster GT, and Quatum XT. I don't just own them, I use them for many, many hours. While it looks like all new detectors currently made(cheap and plastic), it is my favorite Whites of all of them. Plain and simple, hard to beat!
