Mx5 best coil

New member
I have another mx5, wanted to give it another try...I also bought a new 6x10 eclipse...not the best coil IMO..
I'm looking for deeper coins,6x10 isn't deep...any suggested for a mx5?

The stock 9" spider coil is deep...

I hunt in old places like torn down old house sights, torn down churches, ghost towns etc.

The best compromise in depth and separation and recovery from small co located iron is the 5.3 Eclipse.

It is a great little concentric coil and stays on my MX5 full time, it is capable in my ground to reach 8" dimes with authority.

What is your soil like where you search Petew? I agree with Hombre the stock 9" spider goes deeper than my dd coils in mild minerialized soil. I do run the 4x6 Shooter coil which some say is close to the 5.3 Eclipse. Both are great on small targets in trashy areas. I've also had good luck the the SEF WSS 5x10 coil. I like a dd coil with a long pattern because I don't have to over lap my swing as much as I do with a concentric coil.

I'm in Pennsylvania, my soils kinda good and bad..depends where I'm at..
I've kinda made peace with the 6x10..I thought it was my machine but I've read enough to know that coil isn't deep.
I'm thinking about a sef 10x12..its a great ma hine.mx5
