MX Sport tot lot hunting, NAB's the tiniest stuff.

Always enjoyed detecting tot lots, a good way to sharpen ones skill and find a piece of gold jewelry once in a while.

Although no gold was found today, Very impressed with today's MX Sport hunt, using the elliptical coil and with Relic mode with a few changes in settings I believe may be a terrific coin jewelry setup.

With Relic mode, Using 4-tone setup and discrimination with all iron ranges so all iron ranges were discriminated. Then, Adjusted (REJ VOL) to 30 and advanced SAT to maxium.

Now, the lowest tone is separated from iron tone. Clearly a difference more recognizezable between the two in audio. Iron audio is lower, and can tell without viewing the screen.

Increased SAT helps the coil get closer to metal, a plus for tot lot hunting. Plus, I can hear and prefer a snappy audio increasing SAT in Relic mode is great! Hardly no lost of sensitivity or depth, opposite of Prospecting mode as increased SAT will do the opposite with prospecting mode which it's supposed too.

Anyway, MX Sport users who tot lot hunt try these settings. You'll be very impressed, low conductive come in loud and clear and the MX Sport is extreamly sensitivite. This may be one serious micro jewelry hunter, please get back and share your thoughts and experiences with micro jewelry hunting.

The earring find is junk jewerly, gave me a scare looks real.

Thanks for looking,
Paul

OC, you every run the coin and jewelry program? Curious to see what you think of it.

Just got my 6x10 coil in today, hopeful to get out sometime this week, this weekend for sure..

Hello cladnan,

Yes, I auctally ran coin/jewerly today for a short period. It's a good mode, can see users familiar with the SST or MXT Pro liking it.

I'm more into a faster processing detector, the MX Sport Relic mode gives me the extra recovery speed I'm gotten used to over the years with other fast processing detectors.

Don't get we wrong, The coin/jewerly mode is great. Especially with the cool features the MX Sport has, and it's fast in this mode. It's just I've gotten accustomed to quick lighting speed recovery, and now I have it with the MX Sport using SAT with Relic mode.

What's really neat about the MX Sport, a user more accustomed to coin/jewelry mode with the MXT Pro can experiment with MX Sport Relic mode using 4 or more tones, I prefer 4-tone if using Relic mode for coin jewelry hunting and it's important to lower the iron volume so iron and the lowest conductive tone don't sound so close.

I've gotten used to hearing iron for Relic hunting can't get away from it, so I'll just lower iron volume down to 30 when using Relic mode for coin/jewerly. Coupled with SAT it's one neat machine.

For Relic hunting, I'll continue with 2-tone.

Take care!
Paul

Hello Frank,

Yes, I'm really liking the MSP. Finding a good coin/jewerly detector is tough, looks like the MX Sport will be my main jewerly detector.

It's extremely sensitive, no question it'll be a great jewelry detector maybe both land and fresh water.

Thanks Frank!
Paul

OC, thanks for the info, will try the relic mode with 4 tones next time I am out, will bump up the SAT. Hopefully the water will get warm enough this month that I can use it at some of the freshwater beaches. :beers:

Hey Paul,Doe's your's have the update? Just curious if they get more Modulated Audio as I heard before the update it only Modulated at the edge of depth. As you probably know by now I'm a big fan of Modulated Audio to tell deeper coins without stairing at the display. Thanks.

Hello Harold,

Haven't had time to try all the features in real dirt, but have nibbled with Modulated Audio a couple of times. From what I'm seeing still appears to be at the tail end of the signal.

This may be something you may want to consider before purshasing an MX Sport, I know this is a big factor with your type of hunting.

However, in All Metal or Prospecting mode. Although the Modulated Audio doesn't really apply with these features. Because of the zip zip detection the deeper signals do have modulated audio, that's a plus for those prefering All Metal or Prospecting mode.

Today, tested the elliptical coil, it easily detected the 7", 8" buried pennies. And the 10" & 12" buried nickels, the MX Sport love deep low conductive targets, especially old vintage buttons. It's a button getter, those that hunt for old buttons will like the MX Sport.

Hopefully, get out this weekend for a day up in Relic country. Really like the new firmware, a plus over the others.

Take care Harold :)

Let us know how it works for you cladman.

Any news is good news!

Mine doesn't work well and I have the update. I like to hunt with AUDIOMOD so it stinks that it doesn't work well.
