MX Sport recovery speed, Old 1880-1900 School site

Old California

New member
With permission from a property owner, hunted an 1880's to early 1900 school site on farm land. We've pounded this site for years, getting a coin now is extreamly tough. Yesterday, detected the site and recovered quite a lot of targets mostly masked by iron. To my surprise, three coins surfaced an 1890 Indian penny, 188? V-nickel and a Wheat Penny.

This particular piece of farm land is never plowed nor disturbed, all my local friends have given up on this site due to iron masking. Carpet of iron, without the right detector it's impossible to get a signal here.

The MX Sport operates extreamly fast, was using the elliptical coil with Relic mode. Bumped up SAT with Audio Mod off. What I'm noticing is depth is not lost with the increased recovery speed in Relic mode as compared to one of my detectors from across the pond. Were as if I increase recovery with this particular detector from across the pond it looses depth, Both are great detectors for fast recovery but with the MX Sport I'm not seeing loss of depth in Relic mode.

Dug so many targets, up down up down situation even with all the iron masking the MXS seen targets between the blanket of iron. Just amazing, was digging extremely small pieces between the iron in some cases so small was amazed the MXS was even seeing these small pieces.

I'm an old timer who enjoys the MXT, thousands of hours using them but I've never had an MXT perform as well as the MXS as a Relic detector. The MXS has an edge on separation, depth as well.

Also, For fun brought my old White's GoldMaster BFO for a quick hunt. Using a modified 67.5 volt battery pack the old BFO still operates, heavy as a tank but it still found a few pieces on the surface.

Thanks for looking,
Paul

I was scratching my head on that one too, I'm thinking a strap ran between the two loops?

It is old though, yes I would think a leather strap ran in-between both loops.

what's the age or time between the 2 detectors , was just thinking what will they look like in that time again from now?
