MX Sport - No Waterproof Headphones Yet

I would mean that if you could not get the optional waterproof headphones.
What amazes me about this industry is I posted this over 24 hours ago and no response. The reality is there are waterproof headphones available, but the part number, what they cost, what they look like - you would think it is a state secret. Yeah, you want to jump into the water with this thing (frankly, why else would you want it?) and you need the waterproof headphones. It would seem to me getting information out about them would be every bit as important as getting information out about the machine itself.
Anybody seen part numbers and prices for accessory coils yet? Nothing on the White's website. What's up with that?
Oh well, not trying to beat up on White's, it is just stuff like this always puzzles me.

Steve tried to send you a message but box was full. Anyway I found Whites waterproof headphones on KellyCo. site for $139 but not in stock yet.

Thanks Frank. And they even have pictures - I see a volume control. Looks a whole lot like the waterproof DetectorPro phones I have for a couple other brands.

A friend of mine tried to hunt salt water beach with the MX Sport and was very disappointed, Every time coil hit water it would false,he had to turn sensitivity down to about 4 to get it even close to stable....
I just now checked White's Website and I can't find any headphones for the MX Sport. matter of fact, I find their website pretty lame with no normal progression in detector models, and not a lot of facts or information, and certainly no waterproof headphones listed for their new waterproof detector.

Now you click on White's website and then click on Metal Detectors and they come up on the following order of listing:

Since they have had this kind of unnatural layout I haven't been able to figure it out because it isn't anything close to a 'normal' progression. Not the lowest price to highest, or by category for use, and not alphabetical. Just a scrambled mix of models which doesn't make sense to me.
A detecting buddy & I took a drive into Ontario, Oregon last week to get our hands on the new MX Sport they just got in. He had mentioned to me that he had ordered several White's arm-cup straps for some other brand models because he liked the length and Velcro design of the straps used by the Made in the USA White's company like he has on his M6. Just a day or two before we went to see the MX Sport he called to tell me the straps had arrived, and all of them had a little black-on-gold sticker on them that that reads "Made in China."
We got to the Dealer's shop and they had just assembled the MX Sport the day before. When we took it off th wall display to check it out, there it was, all bright and shiny, that same 'Made in China' sticker on the arm-cup strap. Not the most exciting thing to see right there in such an obvious visual spot on a brand new detector. We are going to go back later this week or next and check it out some more outside the dealer's shop to compare other search modes than what we tried indoors, and do a few performance tests, but on that visit we were kind of let down.
I liked the flexible/pliable arm-cup, and have grown to really like their 'Made-in-China' arm-cup straps. I liked the new grip angle, size and feel. We didn't like the fact that they promoted this new waterproof detector that didn't come with waterproof headphones, or that none were available [size=small](according to their website and the dealer)[/size], and really didn't like the new 10" DD coil, the distance we had to space several coins on the ground to get an individual response as we swept across the series of coins. While looking at their website a few hours ago I wondered about headphones and coils, so I clicked on "Accessories & Books", and of all the 104 Accessories they show listed, the very first one that shows up is the:

I give up. What is up with White's in recent years and currently? I have been a White's user since 1968, and have gladly promoted White's, evaluate prototypes for White's and been a White's Master Dealer, but what is going on. They have a lot of search coils, and if their 10" D2 DD coil isn't good [size=small](and I know I haven't cared for it and a lot of coil failures with them)[/size], so why not just use the well balanced and very nice performing 9" Concentric 'spider coil' on the MX Sport? It would have looked good, worked well, not been buoyant and could have made a great wet-land/dry-land 'standard' coil. Instead they did the R&D on a new 10" DD coil, but could have been working on other coils for the MX Sport to offer a smaller size.
But why be an American-based company and promote the Bulgarian-made search coil at the lead of your Accessory list? At least the decal does says it is manufactured 'For White's', but it is still foreign, but got first billing on their website. That, and arm-cup straps "Made in China," and who knows about everything else, maybe we will see an after-market source also supply consumers with things like:
Smaller search coils for the MX Sport.
Waterproof headphones for the MX Sport.
Normal-size headphones for the MX Sport that are of much better quality and design than the dinky set they supply with it.
Rumors of something coming from White's were lurking for quite a while, possibly to keep consumer's hopes alive. Then we had daffy videos with bananas, software engineers doing pushups and such. Product comparisons which were quickly deleted, and White's marketing folks using tacky references to some Garrett and XP brand detectors and others on various Forums that sure were negative and rude. Then, with all the build-up and a series of flash videos of coils being built, an MX Sport being retrieved from a reservoir, and such, we finally see it released to dealers, without necessary accessories, and without a very good website to promote it.
How about the competitors? Well, Makro announced the introduction of their new Racer 2 that took folks by surprise, and the Makro website was up-and-running with plenty of information and looked great. Coils announced and ready for release shipment.
Nokta, the 'sister' company, announced the new FORS Relic just a couple of weeks later, and it too has a quality website up-and-running that is full of information and specs. Plenty of search coils are also ready and available.
Huh oh, now you might say I am partial to Makro and Nokta, right? Well, yes, I am, because they make detectors that balance well, function well, have a full array of search coils, and get the job done right at the challenging sites I hunt, and for a reasonable MSRP. But wait! I don't have a Garrett in my arsenal to complement my Makro, Nokta or Tesoro models .... but I almost could. How's that? Garrett announced the release of the revised ACE models and if you haven't watched their videos for the Ace 400i, you ought to. One of the best videos to introduce a new detector, and educate the consumer at the same time with factual information, and the video is complemented by a very well designed website with good specs, and accessories ... available now!
Up until the MX5 and MXT All-Pro got bumped from my personal detector battery simply due to them being put-performed by a few competitor's detectors, I have been hoping White's would catch up. Having struggled for two or three years [size=small](at least)[/size] with reduced sales, loosing company leaders and engineers and a number of dealers, they are definitely facing a challenge to get back up to steam with better quality, better performing detectors at more competitive prices and regain the standing many of us have come to admire White's for.
As for the MX Sport, I was personally hoping for a model that was based on the MX5 with some glitches taken care of, with a good assortment of search coils [size=small](especially smaller-size)[/size], and with improved performance to work well for some serious Relic Hunting type searches. I was looking for a new model that was 'simple' to use yet 'functional,' more comfortable than many White's have been, and could maybe show some improved performance at unmasking keepers in a masking, ferrous-trash environment.
Checking it out at a Dealer's shop both my friend and I determined it to have a more nose-heavy, tiring balance and feel to it, and so far the close-target recovery wasn't very impressive. Going to give it another try and comparison with at least four other brands outside to eliminate indoor interference. If it surprises me, that will be a good thing. If it leaves me unimpressed, and can't provide useful performance for my search needs, then I know one won't be in my personal detector arsenal.

Hi Nancy,
I assume you are joking as I am in no way bashing whites - been a huge supporter over the years and still am. I think it is legit to ask questions about why stuff can't be found on a website. If that is seen here as bashing however I will just toddle off. I have a new MX Spirt to play with after all
