Talking about a tonal nuance on the Equinox. A must see for ALL Nox users!!!!

Thanks for that info. When the crops get out this fall, I'll have to return to a couple of cabin sites and dig some targets that I had skipped. I had used to horseshoe button to "check" some targets and decided they were iron. Always good to get this kind of input from someone that has much more time with the Equinox than I have.

Its kind of like hunting with the Explorer..... the difference between manual and auto sensitivity. When air testing auto on an Exp it has a very distinct cut off ..... not so in manual it continues to try and id the metal even if it has to call it iron. I think its doing the same thing trying to id the NEAR targets. It helps in the water just because you can react to those near targets. By the way i use those same settings in the Gulf. I saw no need to run a threshold thats just noise when i could better adjust the bin to run like a threshold anyway. That was a very good description of that horse shoe button....... its not really AM...... more turning iron and off and there appears to be no difference between being in AM and running the volume down to 0. A lot of the button on the Nox affects the headphones than the targets........ so get a good pair of phones.

Thanks. Never used the Explorer but makes sense with it being a minelab too.

I have noticed this on my Nox 600, especially on deep brass targets or items that aren’t composed of one metal type, like shotgun hulls, etc. Funny thing is, my Makro Kruzer would do this too once in a while. I just always thought it might be caused by a nearby ferrous target—I like it was coming “off” the good target and coming “on “ to the ferrous one. Who knows for sure? Thanks for the vid, Calabash.

So are the wireless phones good enough that come with the 800?

As a lot of people have found out........ they are a pretty inexpensive pair of phones. Now..... are you talking for water hunting or wading/dirt? I kind of like them....... but it maybe because its not to not be tethered to the machine. They have good volume and i never noticed a lot of lag and their speaker response seems ok. so to answer your question are they good enough ..... depends on what targets you are trying to find. I personally dont like the....... all targets run gain max..... meaning there isnt enough modulation to tell big from little targets like on an Xcal. I have no doubt you can benefit by a high quality pair of phones on weak targets ...... always for about the same price. I think the machine prefers speakers to piezos as well. Its all about the speaker response....... im also told not all phones will work with the ML cable....... so test um.

Thanks for the reply...very well put......sounds like I need to get a set of headphones ...I do like being wireless thou...any thoughts on a set of wireless or wired,,,,?
