I have a chance to buy a New In The Box Musketeer advantage $300.00 Is this a 1. A Deal 2. a good detector 3. just nead some advice on this

Hi,I've just bought a used musky after listening to the advice of a number of people on this forum.I own a sov gt and i thought the musky would compliment the sov........a number of people said it was a good machine so i decided to go with their advice.I've only used the machine a few times but i can see it has a lot of potential,it's deep, has a fast recovery speed, excellent iron discrim and is even fairly sensitive to small low conductivity items. It's also very stable and quiet which is something i am having to get used to......i'm used to listening to a constant threshold.....this machine is so quiet i find myself running the coil over my spade to check if it's working. The only thing i did not like was the weight with the control box mounted under the hand grip.....it made for a heavy unbalanced machine.I fixed the problem by moving the control box under the arm cup and it's now really well balanced so i can swing it for hours without aching. As i said i've only used it a few times but i'm really impressed with it and i've already had some nice finds off difficult sites. With careful use of the discrim and sensitivity settings i'm finding i can fine tune this detector to pick non ferous targets out of heavy iron better than any other single frequency, single tone detector i've used before. All in all an excellent detector and i'm glad i took the advice from all the people who responded to my post....if i were you i'd snap it up and start enjoying it.
Regards,Neil.

My opinion a good deal,Musketeer Advantage is a great detector.Very deep simple detector will serve you well.Good Luck PS don't let Gunnar work on your Musketeer.

300 is a good deal , now if you have problems whith it going silent its probly the battery pack the little slide bars the batterys push aginst can get out of place

The advantage is a massively underated machine. The only downside is the weight and that can be fixed by moveing the box. Sounds like a great deal for you, killer in iron. Don't let the lower freq. trick you into thinking it won't hit low cond. items ,,,,it does just fine. And if the coil goes over silver , you will know it. Good luck on your purchase..

Hi bleeohio, one of the reasons i was trying to get as much info as possible on this machine before i bought one was the low frequency of the machine.I had doubts about it's ability to pick up low conductivity items like the tiny hammered coins we hunt for in the u.k.After using it for a number of times now i have found that it picks up really tiny items which was quite a suprise and i have no doubt that it will pick up small hammered coins if the coil goes over one.It just goes to show that lower frequencies are very useable in all types of detecting and not just for the bigger, deeper items.
