the wife has a Musketeer XS coming as a back up machine. Any suggestions, comments appreciated.

It will be used in parks, parking lots, and generally trashy places where no one else wants to detect.

I have had an Elite but the XS looks totally different.

If you ask this question over on the X-terra forum you'll find that Digger is a fan of the Musky. He wrote an article a while back called "Hunting with the Musky made easy." He can point you to the article. From memory, you may find it on Minelabs own website. I have read it and you will find it very useful.
