Musketeer shaft

Is there a easy way to move the control box under the arm on a S shift or should I just get a straight shaft? Its a black case musky, do I need to drill holes under the arm rest? I'm trying to make it less tiring to swing.

Also, where can I purchase a Sov straight shaft?

While moving the box farther back to improve balance, you will find that unless you have strange wrist joints, that an "S-rod" still sucks.
Any Minelab dealer should be able to get you a Sov straight shaft. You could also look at straight rods from other sources.
I'm sure you will get some suggestions from other members.

I bought a White's DFX/MXT/TDI style full rod assembly from arm cuff to lower rod it includes the handle grip as well... I have my Musky with a 15"WOT coil mounted on it and having that handle grip totally got rid of the wrist pains from the S rod and balanced the detector perfectly. $65 total...

I like the straight shaft. One of my Musky's on a two piece Minelab straight shaft and another on a Whites straight shaft.

a black box musky uses the V clip to connect the control housing to the shaft. drill out the pop rivets holding it onto your S rod and remount it with pop rivets on a rod that is easier on the wrist. mount it under the arm rest as the guys have suggested. I like the whites rods like crazyman but I prefer the one that steps out a little from the body, like they use on the dfx/mxt/xlt. any whites dealer should be able to get you this rod for about $65 give or take.

Crazyman,

I like the two piece Minelab shaft, what detector is that off of? Looks like it would make it very easy to travel with.

Any ideas on the cost and what are all the parts that I need to order?

I bought it from another forum member a while ago and I think it's from an older Minelab SD gold detector. The arm cuff is from a Sovereign Elite or Advantage.
