I conducted a hot rock test today i was out metaldetecting the gravle road in front of my house using my compadre and i found a nice hot rock that looked to be basalt and was magnetic about 3/4" x1" i also found a nice copper shellcasing whith no lead in it it was about as big as a penny so i did a comparison whith my musketeer now the compadre in all metal would pick up the hot rock to a depth of 2" whith a eratic sound but the musketeer was well nie silent but hear is whear i was really amazed if i put the copper bullet at 3" deep and the hot rock at 1.5" deep the compadre went silent but the minelab went right thru it i know im missing things whith the compadre du to hot rocks but not whith the minelab listen if you are new to metaldetecting and want a good metal detector get a minelab they are good metaldetecors

I use to own this detector and it has its own langauge. If you sweep fast over a bottle cap it will break up (tone) as going slow it will sound good. You can sweep fast or slow on this baby.
I found out the 8" coil really kicks but over the 10" coil. better pinpointing and separation.
This detector has its place and that is speed and relics, you can cover a large area in a short time. It loves those bottle caps but sweep fast back and forth and the tone will break up!
I sold mine for a whites xl pro and I liked the pro better, than sold the pro to get my sovereign xs which I really like.
There use to be tons of write ups on the musketeer. A guy named digger always wrote on this unit.

You do have a great detector. easy to learn. have fun!!!!
