Musketeer Advantage vs Vaquero

rabbit

New member
I have Musketeer Advantage, coil TS800. I love its performance! But I yearn after ligter and more storable machine, I become tired by waiting for new Musky generation. So I am thinking to switch over to Vaquero, I am not fond of displays.

I would like to ask you experienced people. What can I get from this change? I have never seen this comparison.

the best warranty in the buisness if your not the original owner and tell them the senario they will still honor it great people to deal with

I own a Vaquero and it is the lightest, quietest machine I have ever used. I can run it at 9-10 sens. with no chatter besides a few faint clicks when going over Disc'd out targets. The depth is great, just remember to dig those targets that sound iffy, I was in a seeded hunt and almost all of the burried targets were on edge, they sounded good one way and iffy the other, It was a good learning experience! so now I dig those iffy targets. This machine is so fatigue free because of its super lightweight that I find Im not disregarding targets because my arm is ready to fall off after 2 hrs. I owned a Sovereign before this, excellent machine in its own right, but after swinging for a couple hrs my arm and back would get so tired I got lazy and only dug what I thought were sure fire targets, not a good idea in this hobby! If you do get a Vaquero please dont get frustrated with the manual G.B. it is a piece of cake after practice and this forum has many posts which will help speed up the process for you and answer any questions, just remember to tell yourself that you dont need to swing a tank to get good results, bigger is not always better!

hiya i dont have a musky, but was thinkin of trying one,,are they as good as the sov,g,t,?? i do however own a cibola,,i have added a 10 turn precision g,bal to it and a 12 x 10 d.d.coil,,,it is totally awesome for depth,, about as deep as physics allow ,,but the iron rejection and quick recovery means you can put a 6 inch large flat iron nail 1 cm away from a small silver coin and it will pick it up after discing the iron,,the air tests i did shows how hot this machine is ,,it loves tiny silver and especially gold,, like a 13mm silver arabic coin at 10.5 inches,,,,,and a very thin george 111 half spade gold coin at 13 inches,,this is in standard threshold, just audible,,,and 13 inches an the silver and 16 inches on the gold with supertune???? awesome,,it also works to huge depth on salt wet with the dd coil,,tried a 1 cent penny around 18 mm clad coin in a foot of sloppy salt wet sand and it found it no problem,,,tell ya,,people just overlook these machines because they are small and light and because of this they cant be as good,,but the vachero and cibola are tejons in frogs clothing,, they are the very latest technology and just can not be beaten,,,they just find stuff the others dont??,BUY ONE,,see for yourself,,,,,rgds comcat:ukflag:

Light, very good depth, fast retune for excellent target separation, good coil selection, runs smooth at the beach even in wet sand, great warranty.

My guess is the muskiteer has 5khz which will alow you to penitrate deeper in mineralized ground ,the vaq is at 15khz . 2nd thing the vaq has a concentric coil this will be more afected by ground minearals the muskyhas the DD which can handle bad ground better . i was going to buy a vaq but i disided on the musky it has a bit more advantige in my opinion

Rabbit I would look into a Tejon. The trigger switch with dual disc is a nice advantage over the vaquero. Like with the Advantage your still going to be bothered with bottle caps at low disc(vaquero also), but you will have a lighter machine, excellent choice of coils both widescan and concentric, and as all these tesoro folks have told you a dynamite warranty.

I think only the older muskys arent going to be repaired by minelab, your fine with the advantage. Tough call on the depth, I am using the 12X10 on my Tejon and it gets some great depth and seperation and bangs like he$$ on gold, better than the advantage for sure.
