Trying to decide on a second metal detector. I have a Tesoro Sand Shark that I use on the beaches and in the water in SE Florida. But when I go other places I don't have anything I can use to eliminate trash. I am considering an Excal 800, but I don't know how the discrimination is for land work. I need to get a machine that can work in salt water and be useful when I am out of town where there is no beach. Thanks.

Water machines tend to be on the heavy side, I have the sandshark, excal 800, excal 1000, CZ-21, and have just got a Detector Pro Wader that I haven't picked up yet.
Would I seriously use them for land hunts maybe the wader don't know yet but not the others and that could be because I have many land machines already to pick from or the weight factor but then the Sov is almost the same as the excal more fine tuned so will it work yes, but then alot of guy's go to a lighter coil with the Sov so maybe the Wader is the answer check it out. the wader is great choice... I love my wader... sold my first one and missed it and bought another. Detect in the rain, good on batteries and its a great detector. AND you can go up to 6 feet in the ocean with it.
I've owned 2 Detector Pro's. A wader and the PI. and for the money they are excellent detectors....

later..
Pappy
