Mud, Ice and SILVER!!!!

I thought I posted this here but it must have been somewhere else. Anyway, last Monday was gorgeous compared to what we were dealing with in Ohio. I took my SE Pro out for the first time to actually just fool around with the settings and get a feel for it, which I know you can't really do on a four hour hunt. But, needless to say, I came up with this and some trash, and got to know the machine a bit after so much "in front of the computer " time reading and memorizing controls, etc.... I am flabbergasted. I saw 3-29 on the screen, and it wouldn't go away after cross sweeping, so I said to myself, watch it be a clad, and the rest is history. I was using the 12x10 SEF and I'm going back there as soon as it thaws with the 8x6 SEF. I've been over that ground there 5 or 6 times with all the coils on my Delta. I found this about 20' from where I found a 44 Merc with the ultimate coil on my Delta in the Fall. But I've hunted that area for the last 2 years with only one silver. Now in four hours, a newbie fooling around pops a silver on the first outing. I'm still dumbstruck and wish I would have popped for a Minelab from the get go. HH all!

Nice find. Glad you where able to get out.
I am getting out tomorrow and Saturday since the weather is going to be warm again. Hopefully I will have some luck again.
Hang tough spring is right around the corner.

Good luck Mike. My motivation is now sky high with silver #1.
I was thinking of finding new places to hunt but I'm going back to the old ones first. Especially where I found a lot of wheats with the Delta.
I keep a half ass'd journal but my memory is still pretty sharp.
Have fun and HH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Ted, I know how you feel. I've been staring at 1952 aerial and 1874 county maps for a while myself trying to make comparisons between the two. God forbid I actually go to the library.
So far I've found 3 ball fields, 3 residences and 1 farmhouse that aren't there now. The ball fields existed in 1952, are not there now and haven't since 1962, the residences and farmhouse are on 1874 maps, 3 of which still existed in 1952 but are not on 1962 aerials, 6 are on public parkland and 1, the farmhouse, now has a congregational church on it but quite a distance away from the footprint of the house.
So I'm going to have a pretty busy Spring, Summer and Fall. Good luck this season. HH to all!

Thanks GR!!

Thanks Park! Went out this evening with the 8x6 and got ZIP!! Well pulI tabs and foil. I think the ground is too wet for the 8x6 as it was toning all over the place. Little separation except on hot targets. The 12x10 wasn't as bad. But I left it home. I'll be out all weekend. Zee ground is thawed.
