HOORAY!!!! FINALLY!! I found my first large cent and boy she is lovely!! I could not have been more excited, especially that Rob helped me to rescue her from underneath that root and witnessed our introduction. He has already found 5 large cents so...it was my turn.
I was shocked at her condition for being in the ground approximately 184 years. I have to find out her secret!! Enjoy the pics...you can see just how much I appreciated my first Large Cent. Very very exciting. Crazy thing is...we didn't find really much of anything else at Bea's beautiful 1828 home. She was so kind to allow us to rescue history there. I'm so grateful for kind folks like her who allow us on their property.
The next day, we had the opportunity to detect at another house and met Phil and his wife. My gosh they were just the cutest couple. I believe he is 87 years old and still golfs regularly. He said he has had two double eagles in his lifetime. Wow!! His wife...I never got her name..but I will find out...loves to play poker. As we were saying goodbye, she told me she was about to go win some money!! ha ha ha!! Meeting these people makes treasure hunting even better!!
Rob no longer is satisfied with finding one silver in the hole, it is now his routine to find two silvers in the same hole!! While detecting at Phil's, Rob found two deep Washington quarters (1952 and 1964) in the same hole. When he asked me to listen, I could barely hear it but then picked it up. I surely would have passed it up. His skills, despite being deaf, are top notch. My goodness. Luckily for me, as we were ready to head to the car, I had one last ditch effort to find something there, and whew...I found one 1946 silver Washingon. Trying to keep my silver streak going. So far so good.
Oh yeah...last week, I found 3 dimes in the same hole .. I haven't posted that yet. Two Rosies and a Merc.
I am looking forward to reading and commenting on all the other posts. I just love this hobby and I love my hunting partner!! He brings adventure into my life!!
HH Everyone!!
