Mr. Postman Will Be Delivering Me A Deleon Tomorrow

The last couple of days I've been using a couple of other brands of detectors to find some silver coins. They're effective but they're not nearly as fun as a Tesoro detector. Not even close. I had a Deleon some time back and sold it to get a Cortes. I decided that I liked the Deleon better and sold the Cortes.

I'm going to give the Deleon a really good workout when I get it. Any pointers on how best to use the Deleon would be greatly appreciated.

My current plains are to set the discrimination to the point where a Gatorade Sports Drink Foil Cap just discriminates out, set the sensitivity as high as it can go and still remind quiet and stable, and dig all good sounding audio targets. I might even cover the screen to keep me from looking at it.:)

The one thing that I remember most about the Deleon is that sucker is a deep hitter.

Congrats on the DeLeon and I am envious/jealous. I would buy one tomorrow, but scuba gear is next on the list. While the rest of the world is whining about waiting for the new Caz, I'll just add a DeLeon to my Tesoro fleet. The D is a uMax detector but takes more batteries and I have to believe that some of that battery juice is being used for a little extra transmit power. You are not the only that has said for a uMax series, it is extra deep.

I have considered another brand and almost got one this spring. Not saying the other brand is bad, but I am glad I got another Tesoro. They are simple and just flat out work effectively. I am very happy with the detectors I have.

I should have a new Deleon delivered Tuesday but it may get here tomorrow. Like I have said in the past I need to stay off these forums because I spend to much money LOL . I forgot to request a scuff gaurd for the stock coil ?? I hope the Deleon comes with it , I have the 10x12 dd and I ordered a 5.75 I have a coil issue I just can't have one.that goes for detectors also.

Congrats guys on getting the Deleon! The best Tesoro made in my opinion.

We need to start the " Church of Deleon" .......
All I can say about my Deleon is that it has bumped my new ATPro to "backup" status!

My favorite Tesoro for sure. Analog tone, and a screen, best of both worlds. In my opinion it will walk circles around the others for cherry picking. For cherry picking just move slow and pay attention to the numbers. The separation will surprise you.

Tab can't wait to hear how it performs, every one says its deeper , so is that true? let us know

In my mild soil it's a deep hitter. The manual ground balance only works in the all metal mode. The discriminate mode ground balance is factory set.

You don't want to do that:nono: , that just might start a Holy war with the " Church of the Compadre" members . It may be safer to go with " The disciples of the Deleon".

I agree with this!

I will be waiting to here the report on how it does for you. I am thinking of get one myself...Good luck on your first hunt.

Yes, I just got one a little while back and one thing that stands out to me is the fun factor. I am having a blast with mine, glad I bought it. Sometimes I look at the screen and sometimes I don't. It locks on to coins so well audio wise that a lot of times I just go with it. Found a couple coins around the 7-8" mark with no problems in the ground I hunt. I like the 8" donut from my outlaw the best coil on it so far with the 5.75 my second favorite. Deleon is a great simple machine with a lot of good qualites.

If I'm not mistaken the Deleon has fixed ground balance in both disc and AM modes.
The Cortes has ground balance fixed in disc mode and manually adjustable gb in AM.
Am I correct?
My soil is very mild so for me there is no practical difference. I was just wondering because I'm considering a Deleon.
Thanks much!

Yeah, you're right, I had the Cortes in mind.

There may be some logic to the battery power thing. I believe the cpu that uses power for circuitry that powers the TID has to take power from somewhere (antennas?). So it's not just a single battery unit. Even my F5 with "work" with one 9v but probably works deeper (and easier) with two in it. Of course, the Teks only use one. As well as the new BH Pros.

Regardless, I had a Deleon years ago. It was my fave until the F5. I had learned the TID, the numbers compared to the 5 segment display that had a confidence meter built into each segment (the higher the bar, the more likely it is a coin). Master this, and the Deleon is a turn on and go that gives plenty of info as well as depth.

I've had no problems with the fixed ground balance on mine. AND, it is definitely deeper than other umax Tesoros I have in my arsenal, including several with GB in the mild soil I generally encounter.
Not having used it in really heavy mineralization, I won't comment on that, however, as most of us know in mineralized conditions, the manual ground balanced machines tend to have the advantage.

OK it's here. I did a little testing out in the yard. This Deleon seems to be a little more stable than the last one that I had. I can turn the sensitivity to the red area and still remain quiet. I decided that I like the brown doughnut coil better, so off with the white stock coil and on with the brown one. I'm getting ready to put a screen saver on and some protective wrap around the control housing. I found a good place to take the Deleon on her maiden voyage. I found two silver coins there today without having to cover much ground and I only detected for around an hour or so.

I'm pumped for tomorrow's hunt. The Deleon is giving a good visual ID on deep targets. I forgot how sweet the audio tone sounds on the Deleon.
