Mr. AT is sick

Well I already called Garrett and Sue is sending me a new coil. I hope that this will solve the problem I'm having. Everything in the housing unit seems to be in working order, but it will not ground balance or pick up anything metal. If I turn it on in my vehicle it will bounce around as if I was in a heavily EMI'd area. Only when the vehicle is running though. Any Ideals would be great help. I'm praying for you John, and may the Lord be with your Family.

Last week, after detecting in the salt water of the Gulf, I couldn't get the ATP to quiet down on the dry sand. Ground balancing did nothing to the numbers so I tried manually moving the numbers from 0 - 99, but still the noise. Unlike yours though, targets would ping through the noise ( the few there were). Yesterday, back home in the Northwest, I removed the coil cover to give the coil and cover a good rinse. Then out in the yard it ground balanced normally to 90 and ran quiet as a mouse. May be worth a shot to take off the coil cover for a rinse, even as hard as it is to remove. Be gentle, start in the middle and maybe even warm the cover with a hairdryer to help remove it.

Given its sensitivity, sand and dirt inside the coil cover will cause problems.
