MP Series (MP3 MP3 Pro, MPX, etc.)

I apologize for the long post - I promise to keep it shorter in the future. I have been wanting to do this for a long time - even have some sites lined up - but am in the research stage where actually buying the machine is concerned.

Can anyone tell me something about the MP series of detectors?

The stores' reviews are all glowing, of course, because they are in the business of selling metal detectors, and if the descriptions and store reviews are true, then this may be exactly what I am looking for. (And the scratch and dent price doesn't hurt either.)

However, I am a bit suspicious, for two reasons:

First, I don't see this brand/model name on any of the review sites I have searched.

Second, I have seen "Scratch and Dent" on a few different stores and eBay sites, with the same exact same wording. Reads something like, "...arrived with some damage to the outer shipping cartons, plus some light scratches and small surface dents on a number of metal detectors. All are brand new with full warranty...We checked - the detectors operate perfectly..." None of these sites mention the manufacturer, either.

Does the fall under the "If it seems too good to be true, then it is? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

These are sold though Kellyco and are made for them so you probably will not see a field test on them.

I too was looking at the MP line (the MPX) and also liked the price and description. I was therefore happy to find that someone had asked about them in this forum.

However, these days, simply saying that something is made in China is not a qualitative answer. If you haven't checked your computer components lately you may be surprised to find that many (if not most) of them are made in China. And they are not of inferior quality.

So does anyone know whether this line of detectors is of any value? BTW there is a review of the MPX on the Kellyco site (http://www.kellycodetectors.com/Field%20Test%20Reports/mpxFT.htm), by a former employee, for what it's worth. I hope I am not breaking forum rules by posting that website.

Regardless, I would love to know if anyone has any real experience with this line of detectors.

`i have not used one, read a post a guy bought one had a problem and returned it for the ace 250. stick with proven quality machines, you will be happer in the long run
