These are some more of my digs from the last week or so. I have been trying to get all the hunting in that I can because I am leaving Germany around the 1st of the year. I just found out that I will be stationed in North Dakota. Heard it is a little cold there. O well. If any body is up that way ,send me a PM. The medal is for mothers with large amounts of children. They had bronze, silver and gold. The tag is some kind of WW2 German chit or equipment tag. It has some unit information on it. The other stuff is just odds and ends that I have dug. The hunting is amazing over here and I will sure miss the multitude of history here in Europe when I am gone. Thanks for looking and HH.

Nice stuff Birdman and I wish you the best of luck in sunny North Dakota. I remember when I left Germany and yes your going to miss the detecting over there. Once again good luck with the move and get as much hunting in as you can.

Thats a German or Austrian dog tag you've got there! They are designed to be snapped in half. One half is left on the body the other kept by an NCO as confirmation of losses. The Swiss army use exactly the same tag to this day (well I know 100% they did up to 1994)! Great finds. Mothers crosses were often destroyed or melted down atfter the war. If memory serves me, bronze was up to 2 kinds, silver 2-4kids and gold 5 upwards. They started being issued in 1934!

Cheers
Neil

Neil ,we found an area where a flak battery was during the war and also found several dog tags. They have all the same information on them but every one has a different number but no names.
