These are the approximate amounts of found silver coins, and others, from 1979 to 2000.
I spent quite a few hours looking through my calendars which became diaries but at the beginning I didn't bother with daily or, sometimes, monthly entries. There was one year where I didn't make any entries! So these results are not 100% and I didn't include the 144 silver coins I found at the 1993 FMDAC hunt in Atlantic City; 144 coins in about 30-40 minutes! Plus a big silver round and a White's jacket. 2 rounds: 1st round 60 coins; 2nd round: 84 coins. My Teknetics Mark I Ltd was HOT!
Additionally, my calendar entries included such days as: 100, 131 coins with 125 quarters! Or 63 quarters and tons of dimes, nickels, cents! On one occassion I sold 451 silver coins for $255, and another time $190 worth.
Here's an approximate breakdown of silver coins, mostly, plus other interesting coins which doesn't include thousands of cents (lotta wheats!), nickels both war and Bison (Buffalo to you tyros) nickels, etc.
Walking Liberty Halves: 20
Barber Quarters: 13
Standing Liberty Quarters: 17
Washington Quarters: 58
Barber Dimes: 23
Liberty (Mercury) Dimes: 224
Roosevelt Dimes: 188
Indian Head Cents: 25
1875, 1887, 1890 Seated Liberty Dimes
1903, 1905 V Nickels plus unknown number
18?? Shield Nickel
1866 or '67 Nickel with Rays
1865 2 Cent with error (rotated reverse), 1868 2 Cent almost AU.
Plus silver and gold jewelry that brought hundreds of dollars when I sold them. And many other coins silver and otherwise from Canada, Mexico, many other countries.
What a great hobby, what a great life!
