most treasure finds

Everytime I check throughout the forums on this site and numerous other sites and newsletters, it always seems like the majority of the treasure finds are coming from an Ace 250 or an AT Pro. It really seems like these 2 machines will hold there own against any of the top end detectors. Does anyone else ever notice this?

My guess is that they are more affordable detectors that can produce finds, so therefore you'll find more posts in forums and newsletters, because more people are willing to pay approx. $600 for a detector rather than $1000 and up. For the MDist that don't want to break the bank. They run about middle of the road in pricing. I would definitely consider one as a backup.

I imagine that depth is usually entered into the equation when in reality it's location. So an entry level detector at the proper location-and the Ace IS a decent detector-is all that's needed in most cases. That's why some people praise machines like the lowly BH Tracker IV.

And dont forget that the person
using the machine is important too

I know folks with older units that
beat me all the time with my GTI but
they have been :detecting: a lot
longer than i have ..and like
slingshot said location means a lot
too Its gotta be there to be found!

Hello guys, I am a long time Minelab user and I bought my Son a Garrett Ace 250 for his 11th birthday this year. The reason purchased this metal detector was the price, lite weight, it was easy to use, bell tones coin sounds, and their are lot people making some good finds with them. I was checking out the videos on you-tube. So far I am impressed with Ace 250's performance and I believe this metal will be good enough for my Son until he decides if he wants to continue in this great hobby.

Yes indeed. And the sensitivity can be adjusted low enough to make it one quiet machine and not the noisebox it's touted to be. I run mine at 3 bars all the time. At impossible trashy locations, I've used 2 bars and cherrypicked like crazy.

I am a Ace user from way back and must admit I have swung other machines only a few times...my opinion must be regarded as a bit skewed I guess.
Can't speak for the AT Pro but as to the Ace please let me give thoughts.
The depth is very adequate in most hunting situations. The Ace gives a good, honest report when it finds a target. Not a lot of brain power is needed by the hunter to determine or analyse the quality of the target. This gets the digging underway for newbies and old hands alike...and that is how treasures are unearthed.
Ace users can keep the machine dialed in easily for changing needs as there is not page after page of scrolling necessary to change the unit from one function to another. One button push and you have went from coin mode to jewelry. No screwing around trying to get the machine to do what you want and need.
I could go on and on. If you ever have read one of my posts you can tell I am a man of many words..and most of them boring.

Most people don't start off with the top-of-the-line detectors. I started as a retiree with a limited income and the ACE 250 was what I could afford. It doesn't hold it's own at the wet portion of the beach against detectors made for that environment and probably won't hold it's own at a relic site for very deep stuff and may have a more erratic reading on its meter but....for local park hunting and dry sand it does very well but still may not go as deep as another top-of-the-line machine will and may not read targets as well or as accurately but...for what it does....it's fine with me! The price is definitely right and it is light. As you say, "the majority of fines....may be just that those who own them learn them WELL since they have no other choice (financially anyway) to upgrade at this time. My ACE finds got me a propointer and a vaquero.

Yeah, the wifey runs circles around this old soldier with her Ace 250.:twodetecting:
Happy Hunting!:)
