Most Recent Silver Find: 1945-S Jefferson

Howdy--

My hunting buddy and I have a little contest. It's a race to 10 silver coins. We have been doing this for the last 5 or 6 years. It's fun and makes a 1964 Roosevelt more of a significant find. The score was 9-6 in my favor. Last week we hunted a site that had obviously been recently hunted. I could see the telltale signs: the trail of a dragged shovel, and recently filled in holes. I've made a practice of when encountering such sites to re-check any holes. I never know what type of equipment or the skill level of previous hunters are so it doesn't hurt to swing the coil over their hole. Upon re-checking one of these holes I got a solid 19 vdi at 2" and had a VERY easy dig in the soft dirt and there was this 1945-S silver Jefferson. And that put me at 10! We are now back to 0-0 and another race to 10 begins. I thought that I would show my last 10 silver coins. It took me a couple of months to get there and all were found with the V3i with either the 4X6 or 6X10 coil EXCEPT the 1956 Roosevelt which was found with the DFX. I used my DFX on my next hunt after learning of Yazoo's passing. Best of luck and...

I never heard about Yazoo. That is sad news.

That is a load of silver in a couple of months. Good luck on the next race to ten... Watch out for the rattlers...

Thanks Burlbark. I've been pretty lucky to swing my coil over several silver halves this past year. The silver Jefferson's have been rare finds though. Best of luck and...
