Morse code question

Well-known member
I remember reading a post several years ago and I think it was Uncle Willy about after you pinpointed a target with your coil and released the pinpoint button, if it was a coin, it would make some type of noise like morse code. I tried that today to try and avoid some trash targets, but it didn't make a sound on the 11 pennies and dime I found. Anybody remember this post?

No morse code, but the objects will often ID right after you release the pinpoint button.
But not always.. Sometimes you can do a "twitch" with the coil, and get it to sound off.
This can be handy to ID targets that are fairly close together. Say one is iron, and one
is a coin. The "twitch" can help ID which is which before you start to dig.
It would be nice to have a morse code target ID, but afraid I've never seen that one..
IE: - - . - for a quarter, - . . for a dime, - . - . for a cent, etc.. chortle..

-.-. --- .. -. is a coin for sure...
I often get a beep after releasing the pinpoint button, but it does not always mean a good target...

HH,

Pinpoint with the coil on the ground centered over the target. Without moving the coil release pinpoint and in a few seconds you will hear a sound like Morse Code or silence. If it's Morse Code, dig it. If it's silent then lift the coil up about a half-inch or so from the ground. If you get a short blip, dig it. If none of these occurr pass it up or dig it if you wish.
