Morning in a city park

I was finally able to get out after a snow storm, then melting, then several days of rain. I went to a park in the city because I knew it was really sandy so would drain well. Nothing interesting on the coin front but I did find these two things that I can't identify. The partial rod might be zinc but I don't know what it would have been used for. The other thing completely stumps me. That nasty burr on there got my right thumb really good. Thank goodness for an up-to-date tetanus shot! Even with the blood-letting it was still a good day.

Like they say, don't toss anything until you know what it is/was. I can see where that burr would be an ouch!

I've found two of the black charcoal rod pieces also? I thought maybe they were to write on something? Like black chalk? Although they did hit on my VDI, although I don't remember what the numbers were?

It's really heavy so I don't think it's a handle. The treading on the one side makes me think it was a step to something. Lots of rail in the area so I thought it might be part of a subway car or a trolley.

After fish hooks, razor blades, and used needles I use my pp and lesche to dig stuff out of the hole. I also use gloves. The machined part seems to be a holder of something.

I actually got myself with the burr after I got it home. It was covered with mud and when I ran my thumb across it to rub the mud off...whamo!
