Went out this morning to an old lot close to home. Spent about 1 1/2 hrs. MD'ing before it got to hot. Didn't find anything to great but had a good time like always.

WOW , So many Great Finds . Would love to see a close up of the lion thing, very interesting find for sure.
I remember those Red Goose Tokens and wearing Red Goose and Buster Brown shoes . What a Great Hunt :clapping:

I have made alot of money this year selling native copper and silver half breeds.

Where would Da Yooper happen to live?? I have an idea with the copper bits and yooper. Z

Very cool finds! I have never seen native copper before. I do not even know what a silver half breed is? I like the token also, good hunting, Beale.

Z, I live in upper Michigan , surrounded by old copper mining towns.

I am from Stambaugh... If you know of it, you are old....Left 48 years ago. Dad was an iron miner....Z

Stambaugh in Iron County? I live in Ontonagon County. :)

Yup Iron county. Stambaugh is now Iron River. Where I was born is no longer in existence. I am a man without a town. I didn't even know that Stambaugh merged into Iron River some years ago. Got any yooper jokes? My nephew, a minister up thar always has some funny yooper jokes. Is the white pine mine still going? I think that is where it was in your neck of the woods. Had some ham friends in Hancock back in the 50's. Thanks for reply and reading...Z

Just so happens I work at the White Pine Power Plant. The copper mine shut down in 1995, but the refinery and power plant are still going. I make several trips to Iron River every winter. I have 3 boys that play hockey and I coach 1 team so I'm all over the U.P. all winter long. No skiing for me Ron my winter weekends are full.

Enjoy the kids they grow up too fast.Use to coach my kids in soccer.Just retired last week from General Motors, but the horse farm is a full time job.

White pine was the only mine left and nephew use to bus there from Iron River. He never said it closed. He started working for the VA. I thought maybe he just got tired of mine stuff. My dad wanted to get me a job working for m a hanna co. in the mine after I got out of service, but that was not my cup of tea.
Interesting thanks for the memories.
What kind of detector do you use up there with all that mineral in the ground? I bet there a lot of places you just get chatter from the detectors... Thanks for reading...Z

I use Garrett GTI 2500, there are some spots when I am in all metal mode that will just hum and almost lock up, then I switch to coin mode and it goes away.
