More volume questions

I have the Koss UR30 headphones and they work fine except that they jump from no noise to way too loud in one bump of the threshold adjustment. I then have to turn down the volume to compensate. It's bad enough that I don't hunt with them. Could this be a resistance problem? I haven't ohmed the headphones but because I hear the same thing in both ears I think it's not a defect.
Any help would be appreciated, Okie

Duh? Maby I am missing somthing in this post but have you tried lowering your volume in the Explorer> go to audio then volume and lower it as needed. The threshold tone, the hum you hear all the time and the volume, the loudest sound you will hear are two different adjustments. The threshold sound is adjusted from the main search displays by the up and down bar on the right. Shows what number you are as you adjust.

That has been the complaint of many as the threshold is silent then up it one notch and it seem to much threshold. There should be a gradual increase, but there isnt.
I am one that dont notice it as I run the higher threshold anyway as my hearing isnt that great.
I beleive it is 6 that is silent while 7 is just a little too much for some.

What I'm attempting to do is to lower the threshold volume without lowering the main volume. I'm glad to hear from Rick that I'm not the only one with this problem.

Duh on me. I see now, I bought these neat little Jensen headphones that go inside your ear and the band behind your head for under 20 bucks at Hastings book store. They have a 6.5 ft coiled cord that is pretty tough and a volume control so you can adjust it as you like. Might ought to try a pair and if you don't like them take them back. The sound is really cleak and since they are inside your ear you can always here the thresh hold tone and still hear whats goin on around you, plus you can wear a large brim sun hat with the head band being behind you head. The model # is Jensen JB-15.

Sounds like I need to check them out. I don't think I'll need the sun hat today unless it comes with solar panels for my sock heaters!
Thanks, Okie

I have other detectors that I use them on as well, they take a 1/4 inch plug which I got at radio shack. They may not be perfect but they are good in my opinion. They work very well on my PC. The 6.5 cord is longer than most others that size and appears to be strong. I hann't taken them in the brush or the like but I think if you treat them right they will be fine.
