Haven't been doing much detecting lately due to heat and mosquitos but decided to take the vaquero to the local lake yesteday. Thought the beach area might be good after all the 4th of July activity, but after digging probably 100 pull tabs and bottle caps, I decided to go to a small camp ground that has produced several silver coins this year. I ended up with a little over a dollar in clad, a silver dime, 2 wheats, and a St Christopher medal.
I had my discrimination set to where pull tabs make a crackling noise, sens. @ 10, threshold slight hum. When I found the silver dime it was a solid signal when I swept one direction but when I would swing from the other direction it would break up. Usually I don't dig these signals but glad I dug this one. Long story short, there was a pull tab about an inch above the dime. The St Christopher medal appears to be from the 40's or 50's from the looks of the car on the back. If any one knows anything about the medal, I would love to hear about it.
