We have gotten some much needed rain in the area. It actually was flooding in my little town! Wednesday I took my Explorer SE with the 12x10 SEF coil to the ball field where I found a Barber and Mercuy dime along with some wheats and an Indian or two. I was running the SE in manual sensitivity around 26 and experimented with both conductive and ferrous sounds. I recovered a few clad coins and some memorial cents. Yesterday I ran into a fella at a local park. He was running an e-trac. I asked if I could join him and compare some signals. He said sure! Very nice fella but I forgot his name. I also shared some public places in the area he could hunt. He said he had over 50 silvers for the year already. Long story made short here...I got to compare some deep signals and my Equinox 600 could hit everything that the e-trac could. We both hit a couple of deep wheat cents but that was about it. He told me that I had a helluva machine and wouldn't bother getting anything different. I did notice that I couldn't hunt around 30' from him as the e-trac would chatter. My advice is to learn what you have well and and keep the coil to the soil! Sorry this is long winded but I hope my post will help someone who is on the fence about the Equinox! Good luck and HH! Interesting results!!
I have never used the two detectors you spoke of, and sure they are great detectors, but for me, the Equinox is perfect for my style of hunting.
Your success depends a gear deal in your confidence of the detector you are using.
