Sorry about all these pictures folks but everyone here at home is tired of seeing and hearing about the stuff I have found. I gotta share the experience.I hope this picture does the "pain bullet" justice. When I dug it up it looked like a piece of spit out gum...d2
 
Chewed bullets have great lore behind them. Many folks think that animals did the work. However, 99% of them were chewed by human's (Soldiers). Nice find, David @ Dixie
 
Not the ones I find on our farm, all are animal chewed. I've got about 15 69 cal that were chewed by hogs. In the early and mid 1900's my great grand father raised hogs, and even though the hog lot is gone, and is pasture now, I find chewed bullets up to 10" deep. So I think location is the key. At first I thought these soldiers were chewing these things like gum! Until my father told me that area used to hold hogs, when he was a kid.
Here's a pic of a few items I found in that area, the bullet on the left is chewed(severly). Sorry for the small pic.
