Sunday I got back to the cellar hole area I've been working. There's alot of ground between two foudation areas (I'm thinking they might have been some sort of businesses back in the day). I was finding mostly odds and ends - a couple flat buttons, part of a large crotal bell, a "folded up" bell, a couple pocket knives, etc. Right before I was getting ready to head out I was checking a boggy area - this area would have been a lot wetter if the season wasn't so dry lately. I pulled up a toasted copper from amongst a root system - boy, did I have to work at it! A few feet away I got a faint, but repeatable signal and again I had to fight the underlying root maze. After much effort I scooped out a small, delicate silver ring. The center was missing - OH CRAP! Did I mangle it struggling to find it? I then rescanned the spot and about 6 inches over I got a faint signal and that turned out to be the setting and stone that had been the center of the ring! Must have been separated long ago because it was as deep as the ring had been.
