More Sovereigns Out There Than Explorers Or Etracs?

Just thought it would be fun to see what your opinion was on this. The Sovereign has been around longer, so do you think there are more Sovereigns out there than Explorers or Etracs? I wouldn't doubt there is but many of them have probably found their way into the hands of people who don't really hunt anymore and are sitting in a closet somewhere.

I have used a Sov since 1994 when they first came out and have had one ever since. I use a Sov XS right now. It has found I don't know how many thousand of coins. I still consider it to be the best all around detector of all time.

Ive used the Exp SE since they came out. If you are talking beach id say the Sov gets the nod, but as a whole the Exp's will take the prize just because they are such silver killers.

Explorers have historically been more expensive but I would think in the same time frame they have been the better seller....one reason why minelab has continued to improve and do R&D on this line.

Dealers would help by chiming in here, they are the ones who do the selling of each detector.

Neil,

I feel from my experience selling both the Explorers and the Sovereigns is the Explorers are the ones most ask for and now the E-Trac is the one I get ask about more.
When the Explorers came out in 1999 it seems like everyone was getting the Explorers and selling their Sovereigns so there was some great deals on used Sovereigns. Now some came back to the Sovereign while others spent the time to get to know the Explorers and still use them to this day. I would estimate there is 3 Explorers to every Sovereign out there right now, but feel the E-Trac is out selling the Explorers right now as far as new.
One thing I felt that Minelab was going to come out with a new Sovereign being they raised the price and discontinued the meter as the new one would be lighter weight and a built in meter, now I wonder if they are going to fade out the Sovereign as you don't see any advertising for the Sovereigns as they used to do, so it gets a person wondering if they will be coming to a end, or maybe they will let people like us do the advertising for them with so many showing what the Sovereigns can do and how easy they are to use for those that spend the time using them and understanding them and posting what we find on forums such as this one.

Ive found a LOT more nickels and items in the gold range with the Xcal, but it would be interesting to see them use FBS on a new machine and keep the ranges on a SOV.
