More Silver from the City Park

4 hour hunt today in the Pittsburgh North Side city park and scored again with the 10 X 12 SEF coil on the EX II. I love this coil. 1914 and 1916 Barber dimes, an 1875 seated that I dug to China to get (10 to 12 inches deep) and a 20, 23 , another 28 and 39 Mercs. Most silver in one day for me. Also found 9 wheaties, the oldest 1910 and the other 40's and 50's with 4 in one hole. Down about 6 inches that four in the one holer screamed silver, pegged top right but read 00-14 on the digital. Pinpointing with this coil is excellent. Trash separation is great, too, when I go into all metal. And typical of a large city park I dug up a modern spent bullet. It's big un at least 40mm. I wonder where the quarters and halves are?? My guess is that this place was probably hit by other MDers with less sophisticated equipment in the last 20 or 30 years and they scooped off all of the easy to find stuff.

Yep...they probably got all the surface to 6" stuff...and left you all the SWEET deep oldies. Nice going:thumbup:

Cocgratulations on finding all that silver. Sure makes for an exciting day...I'll bet. The bigger coins will come out too and they will be older than the easy stuff the others found before. You're probably hunting in an older layer.

I bet that bullet is a 9mm or maybe a .40 cal (10mm). The .45 cal is still the man stopper. Has been for decades. Some special units of LAPD use .45's. Why law enforcement goes to the .40 cal is that it has more stopping power than the 9mm but is less apt to keep right on going and injure someone else and have a bit more accuracy than the .45 which is slightly heavier grain bullet.

I remember filing a compliant some months back and three detectives came in the room to question me. They were not taking me seriously so I asked one of them. What is the difference between a 10mm and .40 cal. No answer. Most law enforcement use .40 cal because it is a lighter load and has less recoil. 10mm loads have more of a kick but will do more damage when they hit something because of such. Majority of people find it difficult to handle unless you're have a big frame and in a life or death struggle seconds count and you want to have a gun you feel confident with and can shoot reasonably well and stable with.

I just remembered this clip. A standard glock with a special 200 round clip :yikes:
