More Silver and Gold after the Winter Storm

My body is still aching from the last couple of hunts, the water temp is down in the 50's and I'm still too fat to get into the 'shorty' half of my wet suit, so I am still hunting in just the farmer john half of my wetsuit - it makes for a chilly hunt. I wasn't very keen on going hunting this afternoon but after watching the way the waves were crashing in Horseshoe Bay yesterday I knew I had to bite the bullet and get back into the water.
Lots of sand movement in the last 48 hours, judging from the number of targets that have been stirred up - nothing quiet about todays hunt. I landed a nice 14k gold ring with the initial 'G', a sterling silver Bermuda bracelet and a .925 surfer ring.

At first I thought I had a wire ring but it is actually a cast ring that is made to look like a wire ring only much heavier.

Just a bit of surge from the heavy waves outside the reef today but I was cautious about getting too deep, lots of sand in suspension and the ever present threat of rip tides kept me from going too deep, most of the time. A couple of bucks in clad and the obligatory ferry token ($4.50) rounded out the hunt but I also found something really weird - check out the orange thingy in this pic. It rang out in the gold range, never seen one of these things before.

Does anyone know what this orange thingy is? From the print on the back of it, this is something related to swimming but more than that I have no idea.

It was a good hunt but I'm stiff as a board and my head is pounding so I am making myself a shot of rum and a hot water bottle.

Cheers,

BDA:cool:

Boy from the look of that tarnish you are digging the oldies my friend. I would like to see that bracelet after Electrolysis. The buttons are coin sized. Nice finds! Glad you got back in unmolested today.

Very nice BDA... our beaches are quite heavily sanded in and the wife and I just purchased a house so I haven't had much time to detect with all the fixing up I am doing ;)

I enjoyed your post about the eel... sent shivers up my spine.. I don't like things that look like snakes...

Congrats on the house, Mate. I'm not a huge fan of snakelike things myself, especially when I have them cornered in a hole with my foot jammed in there.:heh: I had to fan a couple of deep targets out of the surf on this hunt at Horseshoe Bay and even though I have never seen eels at Horseshoe I was a little leary of sticking my foot back down the rabbit hole. The mind plays tricks on you and I kept geting the image of a tentacle grabbing my leg, it didn't help that the water was really murky so I couldn't see anything. The Silver Bermuda Bracelet came up out of just such a hole so it was worth it.

Cheers Mate,

Eric
