I night hunted (Friday) this area trying not attracted too much attention. This area is public land, fenced, not posted and has a couple of entry points that workers use, so it was fair game to me. Disclaimer: Know the laws in your State before you night hunt places like this.

I sampled a small area and found this 1931 Mercury dime and a 1950 wheat, about 40 minutes. I spotted this spot on Thursday in an older part of town. Before it was scraped the area was a small park like setting in the middle of a city, notice the old trees.

The only downfall in areas like this is electrical interference. That makes it so unpleasant detecting with my machine, not all the time but often or intermittent interruptions. It was even worse that one of my cousins tagged along without a machine, so it was hard to concentrate and he got cold. To see what happens I stuck/embedded the Mercury dime in a jar of Silver Cream.

Early that day I hit one of my circuit parks that is fairly consistent at coughing up gold. Hit this 10k gold bracelet with a MEX hallmark. The DFX won

Thanks.

My GB-2 in action, pulled up a 41 rosie in that picture. And a picture of the GB-2 I got off the net.

Hello Ant,

I have a question or two. How do you seperate what to dig and what not to dig? Im guessing your digging alot of stuff besides coins and gold, stuff like foil, bottlecaps and so on.

Have you tried a detector with disc like a CZ?

Thank you,
Neil

This is how I set up the GB-2 for hunting:
  • Both toggle switches in the middle position (Normal)
  • Sensitivity all the way up unless the machine won't balance but never below 8
  • At this point the volume and threshold knobs on the machine should be off
  • I start with the volume all the way up on the earphones
  • Now I turn the volume all the way up on the GB-2
  • Then I turn the threshold on the machine up until I can barely hear a smooth tone (the tone should be as soft/low as you can get it but smooth)
  • Now I turn down the headphones to a comfortable position (don't turn down the machine).
  • Now I

You are right. I dig lots of trash like I have said in my other topics. But I find lots of keepers too. I can skip over a lot of trash but the more solid none magnatic targets I dig the more goodies I find. Thats how it works. If you go for the gold, the silver and other coins and goodies are dug The GB-2 is not a deep diver at 71.01 kHz.

After about 2
