More Old Coins From The "Mystery" Field!

Sunday was a bit warmer though quite windy and looks like the last chance for the next week or so to get out to the fields. Our first stop was back to the “Mystery” field where we have done very well at. And today was no exception as we both pulled an early Indian Head. Diane’s was a semi-key 1871 and in decent condition for a field Indian. This is her second 1871 in the last few months.

My Indian is a nice 1870 a date we need for our book and I was very pleased to get it.

I also got a round ball, more harmonica reed bits as well. After gridding this field several times the signals are getting harder to come by but I still believe that there is more to come from it. We moved on to check out a couple of new sites, one a house and the other a schoolhouse. We were able to find both sites, the house site is heavily infected with some modern trash I believe this house was taken down in the recent past so new as well as old items are going to be found there. Two of the best finds were made by Diane, a nice suspender buckle and a very nice CW Eagle Button!

I found a couple of nice relics too, a heavy brass door handle that has the top fixing plate a bit bent.

On this next piece I have no clue what it was on but it is an attractive design.

We got some other relics as well from this site, three horseshoes, nice large axe head, two marbles one clay and one ceramic, toe plate several white buttons. Time was running out so a quick dash to the schoolhouse site just to see if I could locate it and that was a successful adventure, we will be coming back to it and of course the house site as well.
