More observations on the T2

Took the T2 out today beautiful day to get out. I found I getting some heavy electrical interference with it, then I saw a power station next door. The farther I got from it, the less intereference I got, I also bumped the sensitivity down a bit to quiet it down.

I tried out the 3b mode for rusty bottle caps and found the manual really is correct, you can pretty much tell a cap from the response in this mode by varying your swing speed, as well as the way the numbers bounce around. Once you get used to the responses I don't see these being that big of pests anymore.

I'm just very impressed with this machine. It's as close to the ideal for my hunting style as I've ever used. The learning curve is not that steep compared to most of the machines I've owned. I just love this thing.

Did you adjust the frequency to try to minimize the interference?

No, I just reduced the sensitivity. It was a big power station, so I figured the frequency probably wouldn't help me much.

I found a little chatter wasn't hard to live with.

(Interjecting my 2 cents)
My experience with the T2 is that it can be quite sensitive to power lines, transformers, etc. and changing the frequency has little or not effect on that. The only thing that has worked for me is to turn down the sensitivity. Sometimes down to as low as 30% if I'm right under some lines.

Lillo,

I've an old Newforce R1 and it just about keeps up with my T2 almost, 'cept for one or two coins in my back yard test pit, a dime at seven inches and a penny ('59) at about eight (can't get 'em). Newforce can't get them where T2 gets them OK (I think?) but with sens cranked then it gets noisey due to some nearby power sorce I guess!
Whoever designed the T2 had a look at the NFR1 as they are kinda the same, 'cept the T2 is way better and way easier to adjust!

Hi Eddie,

My T2 just got back, I had the coil replaced and calibrated, plus had the revision installed. I feel my issues with interference have been addressed.

If you don't see differences between the various frequencies, you may want to consider sending your entire unit back with your specific problems noted. Apparently, the unit benefits from being calibrated to the coil or vice versa, or it could be the revision deals with the issue more effectively.

Perhaps a phone call to Maggie or one of the techs would get you some answers and let them know of the problem.
