Another one of those 24 hour periods. 21 hours actually. 5 hours in my truck, 9 hours swinging, 7 hours eating, sleeping etc.

First an explanation for the silver quarter in photo below. I was cleaning my detector in the deep sink at work and was asked how long it would take me to go outside and find a coin. I answered about a minute. Was asked to prove it. I was shocked to find a 1964D quarter, in about 45 seconds, and so were the folks watching. Lucky, lucky, lucky.

Yesterday at a new site. I was immediately approached by a guy who reckoned I was trespassing on his personal site. No, he wasn't happy to see me. We chatted a bit and he became friendlier. He told me how he had clobbered the place. Loads of silver coins, etc. He further told me he only digs targets deeper than 4 inches and no nickel signals unless he's bored. I hoped for a gold ring. Got a War Nickel, Silver St. Christopher Medal with chain, super cool skull ring with eye (Best junk ring ever don't you think?), musket ball that he probably would have liked, Austrian Coin with hole, mess of clad, some other tid-bits.

Today, up and out very early. Filled my thermos with coffee, packed a nice pic-nic, and left with every intention of finding 200 coins. My body gave out after 5 hours and total coins found were 187. Nearly! Best stuff was two silver dimes. A real nifty sterling tiger eye ring that reminds me of ........... 8.5g and my best silver ring of 2010, or at least my new favorite. For now..... Obsolete Mexican coin. Cool brass whistle. Five wheats including a 1954. Finally! I had found dates and mint marks from the 1950s except for that one. Some junk jewelry.

My tumbler died recently and I have about 20 pounds of clad sitting here waiting to be cleaned. Rubber band dust jammed up the motor and it burned out. Still the best 19 bucks I ever spent. I have a spare but it is too noisy to run if I'm home so I planned on tumbling while at work. Thing is, I usually forget to turn it on before I leave. Thinking about a Lortone as a replacement. I'd like one with no belt, if possible. Advice?

Finally, I've been using this new paper towel since I tossed out that other paper towel but I'm going to save you all a lot of grief and just throw it away too!

Thanks for looking!

I've gone a bit mad since the end of July. Looking toward 40,000 lifetime coins which seemed a long way off a month ago. Much closer now.

Congrats on a nice pile of finds! We have a local park that's old, and naturally been beat to death. However until a year or 2 ago they held the Fair in it so there was always clad to be found (I have manages a couple wheaties). I had another MDer approach me one day (MD in hand) as he arrived & saw me hunting, nice guy (he was from Ohio visiting family he said), we talked for a few minutes, naturally he asked if I was finding anything (to which I answered this was just a place to hunt, not expecting much other than clad), and he went on his way swinging. He came back on his way out, claimed to have found some silver (coinage), though he never produced it. Not impossible, but I had my doubts.

Good luck hitting 40,000! Keep going, you'll make it

Welcome to the forum. I almost never show finds to another hunter, especially old coins. I enjoy showing my loot to kids and some adults. Most kids have never seen a Merc or a Barber coin and get a big kick out of it.

I do enjoy showing some of my hunts here.

2483 from 40K. FYI.

If I hit it as hard and long as he does they'd have to carry me home in a basket but I used to do the same thing in my younger days.

Hey Bill. I'm feeling it this morning. My detecting activities today will be confined to sorting through the weekends haul. It was a great weekend. I often think that were you 20 or so years younger, I'd be clammering to keep up with you. When I first joined this place old Steve sent me a PM and told me that I'd never catch him. This started a friendly little competition that had us both trying to one up each other. We kept it private, had a lot of fun, and eventually swapped a few finds. I'm honored to have a coin from him in my book. Same denomination as my Bill Revis coin if you're interested. I have a master plan to catch up to you. Figure if I live to 100, give or take, that'll do it!

Nice hunts!:garrett::detecting:Great clad haul!:clapping:Congrats on the silver!:beers:I like that war nickel. That musket ball is a cool find, too. Neat foreign coins. Are they very old? Just curious. Happy Hunting!:)

The Austian coin is aluminum and dated 1966. When I saw the edge I thought silver dime. I needed a coin from Austria for my book so almost as good.
